m: daddy, i don’t like nap time
d: well you don’t have to nap. you can rest.
m: i don’t like resting either.
d: you can play quietly.
m: can i do homework instead?
d: (thinking to myself) she must take after her mother.
d: well. why don’t you just play quietly and then you can get up in a bit.
it suddenly became suspiciously quiet. i peaked through the doors to find her gazing out the window.
d: what are you doing?
m: watching her wash the mailboxes.
d: oh. interesting.
m: yeah.
