tonight we had a rough match. we played george and chinos team. it seems as if i may be on their hit list. i should probably keep a sharp look over my shoulder. hopefully pete will put in a good word for me next time he see them. kenny? can you do the same? hook me up? i’ve got a wife and kids to love and support.
question of the day: why does the us suck at futbol/soccer so bad?
Probably because high schools and colleges spend more money on their football and basketball programs than their academic programs…or soccer programs.
just too many sports . . . . . .we clearly have the best athletes in the world, they all just play other sports . . . . . . . .when you think about it, henry to the french is like leBron to the US . . . . . .or michael vick . .. . . . . . .all of our top athletes are spread out across basketball, football, soccer, baseball . . .where in europe they are spread out across rugby, soccer and cricket . . . … .but soccer is their top sport . . .. whereas in the US soccer is way down on the list . . .
I echo PY’s claim…..to many distractions….to much money and parents make it to easy on their kids to switch sports so they can be the star….and we won’t attract the best athletes until the average professional soccer player makes more than a full time McDonalds shift manager…..We will win the world cup when kids in the inner city start playing soccer with a ball made of rags instead of shooting baskets at a crate nailed to a telephone pole……the creativity and flair like you see with the Brazilians only comes from kids who play all the time in difficult settings….not on the rich club fields….

First, I have to point out your question is discriminatory in nature. We have the best women’s soccer team in the world. They’re awesome. Secondly regarding our men’s team, I agree with Kenny. The only time I see men gathered to play pick-up soccer in the States is when a group a Latino men are together. They are enjoying the memories of there youth. The memories of my youth would involve a nerf football (futbol de Americano). I also think the media has a tremendous amount to do with it. Soccer was never on TV when I was growing up.
