tonight was emotional. we, well heather cut up some apples, peppers and made maddie a sandwhich. all the while our little peanut lays peacefully sleeping in her room. little does she know how much her parents are in agony over her first day of preschool. what if the kids don’t like her? what if she can’t open her ziplock bag? what if some kid takes her lunch? what if……… it’s going to be a long night and an even longer morning. i know. she will do fine. i’m finally realizing that we are parents.
question of the day: what is your fondest school lunch memory?
7th grade. vons fried chicken in a box with jo-jos and a frozen oj to boot.
i’m going to have to go with . . . . . . .hamburger and fries from the Royals Den in magnolia shopping center . . . .7th grade . . . . . .special delivery from Mom . . . .or the Pioneer Chicken lunch box . . . . .mom, you are the best. . . . .
your grammie made the best sandwiches. egg salad w/shredded cabbage, tuna salad with cucumbers with lots of filling. i don’t remember chips in the lunch but carrot and cucumber strips with a little bit of salt on them. everyone wanted my sandwiches and i wanted their pb&j or their balony sandwiches. we made switches all the time.
Yummy sandwiches made by mom which were neatly wrapped in wax paper…yes, this was pre ziploc bags. I know, I know…I’m getting old!
Currently, I love eating in the cafeteria with my third graders. They have a pretty advance barter system going on. I’m hoping one day someone will trade me for some fruit gushers. Unfortunately no one wants my cottage cheese!
the fruit gushers are sketchy . . . . . . . .mom, where there pine nuts in your lunches?????? love you . . . .
